While digging around the dregs of my personal drive at work, i came across an old gem from days gone by - The Drunken Times. As far as i can remember, there were originally a selection of these created sometime around the 1820's. Later, with modern technology, the format was recreated with colour, pictures, words and letters, and rereleased. This critically acclaimed new format had worldwide success and went on to break 7 literary records. During the Welsh war on Birmingham in 2001, the head offices were subject to heavy artillery fire due to there unfortunate location next to the Birmingham central city arms depot. As the Welsh pushed forward into the city center, they moved into the head office to use it as a base of operations and destroyed most of the archived copies. There were a few resistance staff members who saved what they could and fled to the relative safety of nearby POW camps in Warwick. As the Allied East-Midlands forces pushed back to reclaim the lost West-Midlands territories, the paper moved into underground circulation, but most of its original ground breaking news crossed with interesting articles were replaced with war propaganda. As the war came to a close, the damage to the offices, and worldwide name of the paper was too extensive, and it only survived as a local publication for a couple of months before slipping off into obscurity. My great-great-grandfather was one of the staff resistance who helped save a few of the archived copies, and i present one of these - in electronic form - for your enjoyment. WTF? 1337 LMAOPLANES ROFLCOPTER LOLLERSKATES. Yeah, yeah, i know, im sorry. Been coming across these bloody things more and more often as of late, and they're usage is really starting to scare me. I mean, what the hell is a LOLLERSKATE (has to be in capitals)? LOL i can grasp as an acronym, overused - perhaps, useful, yep. ROFL and LMAO, check, know what they mean. But a god damn ROFLCOPTER? After browsing a bit on t'internet, i came across actual flash games involving an ascii ROFLCOPTER and LMAOPLANES, but i think this may have been created as a result of the words being more mainstream, rather than creating the words itself. Can anyone shed some light on this? Please? Or do i have to stick this down on my "Humanity is doomed" list... Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts) Write Comment (4 Comments) |
